Recently, Tamid, an Israeli investment group affiliated with Harvard Hillel, coordinated to tear down posters in dorms that announced a Palestine Solidarity Committee event and listed rights that Palestinians lack in Israel. We condemn this action. These posters were a perfectly legitimate attempt to call attention to the oppression Palestinian-Israelis face, and Tamid’s actions undermine the spirit of inclusion and tolerance to which Harvard Hillel is supposedly committed. Campus dialogue should not involve silencing or removing opposing voices, but rather engaging in meaningful conversation.
